Over a century of expertise
For over a century, we have been a trusted partner to our customers, consistently raising the bar in design, technology and operations.
In 1908, Charles Komar started a women’s intimate apparel business in New York City’s Lower East Side with a 500 dollar bank loan, a couple of second-hand sewing machines and the guiding principle: “You have only one reputation.”
While we quickly made a name selling long-sleeved gowns and drawstring bloomers, in 1917 we made an indelible mark by creating the premier American-made slip. As the first apparel company to introduce nylon and rayon fibers as staple fabrics in 1946, our name became synonymous with cutting-edge, high-value goods sold in volume. By 1979, we had experienced a 400% sales increase over 20 years.
Now, with third-generation Komars at the helm, our privately-held, family-run company is an industry leader in the design, sourcing, manufacturing and distribution of apparel. We attribute this century-long success to our unshakable investment in creativity, innovation, customer service and social responsibility.
